The Woven Blanket

I’ve been crocheting for a while and my projects up to this point have been orders or stuff for my kids. So this year I decided to break out of my shell and start making stuff for my family and close friends.

So recently my mom mentioned she wanted me to make her a blanket for her birthday/Mother’s Day since they are so close to each other.

I am all about simple and cute patterns. So I took some inspiration from a blanket I seen.

This blanket is perfect for any mom on your list for mothers day! And any color combos would look great!

Materials Needed:

F hook 3.75mm

Worsted weight yarn

MC (main color)

CC (contrasting color)

Needle (for weaving)

Chain 188

Row 1: DC in 4th chain from hook. Chain 1, skipping the next chain DC in the next chain. Following the pattern DC, ch 1, DC (this leaves the spaces where you will weave in the yarn later.) Continue this across, chain 4 turn. (184)

Row 2: DC in the 2 chain from hook. Ch 1, skip a stitch DC in the next stitch, ch 1 DC in the next stitch. Continue this across chain 4 turn. (184)

Should have a total of 92 spaces.

(Ch 4 counts as the first DC throughout the blanket)

Continue Row 2 for rows 3-116, Changing colors every 8 for MC and every 4 for CC.

For a total of 116 rows.

Row 117: with MC chain 1 and slip stitch across the row. Finish off.

Weave in all ends.

Each row is woven with 2 strands cut about 10″ longer than blanket.

Thread the needle with 2 strands of the MC.

Row 1: Going in from the front of the first chain space to the back the second chain space weave up and over the rows through the chain spaces.

Row 2: starting in the back of the next chain space going to the front and over the top of the next chain space. Weaving in and out from back to top.

Continue alternating row 1 and row 2, six more times in MC.

Row 9- Row 12: switch to CC, continue weaving for four rows.

Cut a piece of 10″ yarn in MC. Fold in half and with a crochet hook feed the through the first ch-space.

Taking the 3 pieces of the yarn from weaving (2 from the first chain space and 1 from the second space.)

And make a knot.

Continue this across with 2 pieces of the yarn from weaving. Changing colors as needed.

I am new to writing down my patterns so please please be patient with me! I am still learning!!

The woven blanket turned out perfect and she loved it! I already have plans for more!

Leave a comment and share your creations I love seeing everyone’s work of art!!

I seriously love your site.. Excellent colors & theme. Did you make this web site yourself?
Please reply back as I’m trying to create my own personal blog and would like to learn where you got this from
or what the theme is named. Many thanks! I have been browsing on-line more than 3 hours today,
but I never found any interesting article like yours.
It’s lovely worth enough for me. In my opinion, if all webmasters and bloggers made good content as you did, the internet
will likely be much more helpful than ever before. I’ll immediately seize your rss feed as I can not in finding your email subscription link or newsletter service.
